Macau: City Of Dreams

 Néih Hóu  你好
( a Cantonese word meaning "Hello" )

I visited Macau last October 2010 as part of my 30-day backpacking trip in Asia.  I have few days only to stay in Macau so I have decided to do sight-seeing as much as possible, try chinese foods, drink their local beers and of course, part of the plan, is to do the bungy jump!

Macau was a Portuguese colony and no wonder, most of the signs and establishments are in Portuguese, Chinese and English.  Macau is an hour ferry ride from HongKong and is named as the Vegas of Asia--it has 33 casinos to date and the economy is heavily dependent on gambling, manufacturing and tourism.

I arrive at the airport with no expectations at all.  All I know I will be reunited with my girlfriend and some common friends.  There are buses from big hotels waiting outside the airport and its for free.  I thought navigating in the city is easy..so far.

I didn't waste time, when I reached the accommodation, we went to some big hotels and casinos.  Im not really a big fan of gambling so I fancy those colorful bright lights flashing everywhere on the streets.  People are always busy and always in a hurry.  You can hear the shuffling of deck of cards, dice being thrown in a roulette and funny music from every slot machines!  Too bad cameras are not allowed in casinos!

We didn't miss the opportunity to watch the dancing fountain show in Wynn Hotel. And I happen to record it in my camera! Enjoy =)

One of the few reasons why I wanted to go to Macau because I wanted to do "the highest in the wold" bungy jump! I am a risk taker but this is the first. Well, I made a different blog entry for the entire bungy experience! Read HERE:  Getting High In Macau.

And of course, the video of the jump which I made!

I had fun in Macau, it was so short though. I think the city is not for me. Its very fast, people seems to be very busy, always in a rush. I love the food though especially the mouthwatering egg tarts and of course my favorite, PORK!  Enjoy the drooling pictures below.  Until then!  =)
