Phuket

Phuket is the largest island located in Southern Thailand.  On December 26, 2004, Phuket and other nearby areas on Thailand's western coast suffered extensive damage when they were struck by tsunami. The waves destroyed several highly populated areas in the region, killing as many as 5,300 people nationwide.  By February 2005 many damaged and most undamaged resorts were back in business, and throughout 2005 life slowly returned to normal for the people of Phuket.   In the beginning of December 2006, Thailand launched the first of 22 U.S.-made tsunami-detection buoys to be positioned around the Indian Ocean as part of a regional warning system against giant waves caused by earthquakes under the sea.

Getting to Phuket can be access by plane, bus or a train.  After hectic and draining hours of massage course and nights of poisoning myself with alcohol and fatty foods in Bangkok,  it's time to head south for more relaxing and chilling experience.  I met my girlfriend and some friends at the airport  and flew to Phuket.
One of the perks in working in Six Senses is that we have 7 complimentary nights in any property.  Six Senses / Evason Phuket is exceptional!  They have lovely and huge rooms, 3 swimming pools and a private island where you can swim, sunbathe or have a massage near the beach.

Evason, is located in Rawai town which is very passive and detached.  We went to Patong, an important center of Phuket's nightlife and is the center of inexpensive shopping on the island.  Numerous large hotels and chain hotels are located here.

It's a travesty if you go to Thailand and missed the local food!

During our last day in Rawai, we arranged a whole day  boat tour of the island.  We went snorkeling and island hopping.

The best part of the tour was the Phi Phi Island.   This island is famed for it's spectacular landscapes.  It is where the movie, THE BEACH, with Leonardo Di Caprio,  was filmed.

We also visited the Monkey Bay.  A white beach where friendly monkeys walking free and easy.  Most of the tourists feed them by bringing them crackers or soda.  But beware, they can be hostile and aggressive too!

Three nights in Phuket is not enough.  Though we haven't explored everything, the whole trip is spectacular.  The weather is incredible as well.  Bangkok was raining all the time but when we got here, it was sunny the whole time.  We enjoyed everything from Evason's warm welcome, the fantastic food we had,  the awesome thai massage and the wicked island hopping tour we had!  All these experience makes me crave to come back for more adventures!

 ☺ Namaste ☺
